Supply Chain. Since 2020 it has been part of the equation in the fabrication world. 2020 was a seismic shift our world in the timeline of getting the goods, along with the costs of those goods.
"JIT" was a paradigm shift. For the USA it was a chain saw company featured in an article in Inc Magazine that first discussed "Just In Time" inventory and manufacturing. This process removed the large inventory asset on company's balance sheet allowing them to run "lean". Right around the same time Eliyahu M. Goldratt wrote "The Goal" featuring the theory of constraints (a.k.a. bottlenecks.)
Even with JIT and bottlenecks openly discussed as a way forward, the constant to quality finished products is quality raw materials. Yes there is the skill of the craftsman, great tooling and great design that takes those raw materials from start to finish.
But the foundation of it all is quality raw materials. Patience is key in navigating the new supply chain paradigm.
